OUR HISTORY

POL Paint Brushes was founded in 1945 in San Vendemiano, Italy by Vittorio Pol, father of Gianfranco, its current owner,

Vittorio Pol first started working in the paintbrush industry in 1923, initially in Conegliano Veneto, Italy for Castrignano, and later in Ravensburg, Germany for the company Sterkel GmbH.

It was in Germany that Vittorio received various awards for a series of innovative changes he made to Sterkel’s production system.

Soon after its foundation, POL Paint Brushes not only became the leader amongst the many paintbrush companies in the area at the time, but also one of its business success stories, counting among its clientele the German company for which Vittorio had worked, and to which he had remained loyal for so many years.

In 1963, Vittorio’s son Gianfranco opened his own business next to that of his father, thus creating a modern and cutting edge partnership.

Today Pennellificio POL’s “innovative” tradition continues, through the leadership of Gianfranco and his three children Alessandra, Ruggero, and Jean.
